HAIS: Human-Animal Interaction Scale This is a 24-item self-report instrument designed to describe and quantify a human’s interaction with a non-human animal. After interacting with an animal, the respondent reports on a 5-point Likert scale the degree to which they engaged in specific behaviors with the animal. Respondents also report on the animal’s behavior, rating the degree to which the animal engaged in specific behaviors.
